 KTGY-designed Residential Community Opens in Big Bear Lake
The Crossings at Big Bear Lake celebrated its grand opening yesterday. Designed by KTGY Group, Inc., and developed by Urban Housing Communities LLC (UHC), a leading developer of quality multifamily residential projects, The Crossings at Big Bear Lake is a $17 million, 42-unit high quality affordable housing community for families earning between 30% - 60% of the area median income.
 KTGY Principal Ken Ryan to Speak at ULI Fall Meeting in Los Angeles on "Elevating Design Through Public Involvement and Politics: Is It Possible?"
Ken Ryan, a principal and head of KTGY Group's Community Planning and Urban Design studio, has been invited to participate as a speaker at the 2011 Urban Land Institute (ULI) Fall Meeting in Los Angeles. Ryan will be a speaker at the session, "Elevating Design Through Public Involvement and Politics: Is It Possible?" Ryan has served as leader on projects involving complex regeneration planning, urban infill, large scale master plans, transit-oriented development, resort/recreation studies, community participation programs and intergovernmental coordination. Ryan is a planner known for his leadership, strategic insight and communication skills.  KTGY-Designed Valley Brook Townhomes in Breckenridge, Colorado Wins Awards
Valley Brook Neighborhood, a new infill residential development in Breckenridge, Colo., has received 8 awards in the 2011 Summit County Parade of Homes. Designed by KTGY Group to LEED® Silver standards and funded by the Town of Breckenridge and the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, Valley Brook is a 41-unit for-sale townhome community, which provides high-quality, environmentally-friendly, transit-oriented workforce housing for local employees and their families. Phase I, consisting of 13 residences, is complete and occupied. Phase II is near completion and phase III has recently commenced construction. Valley Brook is expected to be completed by February 2012.  Los Angeles Welcomes Green Affordable Senior Housing
Dana Strand Senior Housing represents the third phase of the redevelopment of Dana Strand Village, the former public housing site. It provides 100 one-bedroom senior apartments that are affordable to house seniors with annual incomes at or below 30% of the Los Angeles County Area Median Income. The development, designed by award-winning architectural firm KTGY Group, Inc., consists of three stories of high-quality construction with 82 parking spaces, all of which are built on grade, and afford easy access to highways 110 and 710. Project amenities include a computer center, a community room and energy-efficient appliances along with a wide array of resident services, including computer classes, ESL classes, and resident events. Dana Strand is designed to USGBC’s LEED Silver specification.  KTGY Celebrates 20th Anniversary By Volunteering At Blind Children’s Learning Center This Past Weekend
Volunteers from Orange County-based KTGY Group, Inc. Architecture and Planning wielded paint brushes, cleaned toys, trimmed hedges and did other assorted tasks this past Saturday at the Blind Children's Learning Center in Santa Ana, Calif. The volunteer project was undertaken to mark the award-winning firm’s 20th anniversary. More than 80 employees and family members participated in the beautification effort.  Michaels Development, LINC Housing Break Ground on Red Star Apartments
The Michaels Development Company and LINC Housing Corporation recently celebrated the ground breaking of a new mixed-use, transit-oriented affordable housing community in Oakland, Calif. Designed by KTGY Group, Red Star Apartments will offer affordable one- and two-bedroom apartment homes to income-eligible seniors. It is being built on the former site of the Red Star yeast factory and is expected to generate hundreds of high quality jobs for local residents and businesses.
