 KTGY Names Lalaine Tanaka as Principal to Lead Firm’s Hospitality Division (2008-01-24)
Lalaine Tanaka has joined KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning, as principal in the company’s Irvine office. Tanaka will lead KTGY’s Hospitality division. With over 20 years of architectural design experience, Tanaka has been extensively involved with the direction and design of award-winning hospitality, commercial/mixed-use, and resort planning projects throughout the United States. Prior to joining KTGY, Tanaka served as design director for nine years at a major Orange County architectural firm where she was instrumental in developing the company’s acclaimed hospitality design studio and portfolio. KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning, designed the Market Lofts at 9th and Flower, a brand new $70 million mixed-use, urban community located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Developed by Lee Homes of Marina del Rey, Calif., in partnership with CIM Group of Los Angeles, the project includes six stories of for-sale lofts above street-level retail and a subterranean garage. The retail is anchored by a much-anticipated Ralphs Fresh Fare supermarket, the first supermarket in downtown Los Angeles since the 1950s. Other retailers include The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Cold Stone Creamery, Quiznos Subs, the UPS Store, Robeks Juice and Pastagina.  Five Projects Designed by KTGY Group Receive Awards (2007-11-02)
Award-winning KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning, is pleased to announce that five of its residential projects have received industry accolades including the highly coveted Builder’s Choice Design & Planning Grand Award and the Grand SAM Award. KTGY’s Royal Court in Morgan Hill, Calif., which was included in the Single Family Detached Product category, received the Builder’s Choice Grand Award. Nuevo Amanecer Apartments in Pajaro, Calif. received a Merit Award in the Affordable Housing Community category. In the Builder’s Choice award category of Best Attached Housing Project Mid Rise 4 to 7 Stories, The Lofts at Playa Vista in Playa Vista, Calif. also received a Merit Award. KTGY’s downtown Escondido project City Square earned three awards including the Grand SAM Award as San Diego’s Best Overall Project Award. Sunset Cove Plan 3 - San Elijo in San Diego was a finalist in the Best Attached Housing Product $500,001 and Over category. Four principals from award-winning KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning, have been invited to speak at the Building Industry Association of Southern California’s Building Industry Show 2007: “Elevating the Standards of Homebuilding,” November 15-16, 2007 at the Long Beach Convention Center. For nearly 20 years, BIS, the official tradeshow of the Building Industry Association of Southern California has been the number one tradeshow for the region’s building industry professionals. KTGY’s Principals Ken Ryan, Tricia Esser, David Kent and Damian Taitano will speak at the BIS Show.  KTGY Gives More than 1,200 Books to New Elementary School in Madera, Calif. to Fill Empty Library Shelves (2007-10-10)
Award winning KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning donated more than 1,200 books to the newly opened John J. Pershing Elementary School in Madera, Calif. The school, which was built to reduce overcrowding at two other area elementary schools, opened in August 2007 with an empty library. KTGY’s generous donation helped to fill Pershing’s school library. This is just one of many community service projects that KTGY has recently participated in including Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, HomeAid OC and CHOC/Disneyland Resort Walk to name just a few. Award-winning KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning, has received finalist recognition for three of its projects in the Builder’s Choice Design & Planning Awards competition, the housing industry’s most prestigious design awards program. Royal Court in Morgan Hill, Calif. received recognition in the Single Family Detached Product category. Nuevo Amanecer Apartments in Pajaro, Calif. is recognized in the Affordable Housing Community category. The Lofts at Playa Vista is also a finalist in the category of Best Attached Housing Project Mid Rise 4 to 7 Stories. To commemorate the winning projects, an awards show will be held at The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C. in October 2007 and be featured in the October issue of Builder magazine, the official magazine of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The SADI Awards, now in its 18th year, is a prestigious awards program that recognizes outstanding architectural achievement in retail environments. The winners will be announced in the September issue of Retail Traffic and will be presented with awards at a special ceremony. Award winning KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning announced today that it has been selected by American Campus Communities, Inc. (NYSE:ACC) to begin the design development of up to 4,000 on-campus beds at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). The multi-phase development project will be located on up to five separate land parcels on the East Campus of UCI and will target a silver or higher certification under the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED rating system. KTGY and American Campus Communities recently completed the Vista del Campo and Vista del Campo Norte projects totaling 3,000 beds on the UCI campus. Award-winning KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning, has appointed Michael Flynn, AIA, senior project director to head up KTGY’s Retail Studio in the Irvine office providing expertise in the oversight of retail and entertainment projects as well as direct project leadership of major programs and projects including sustainable architecture (green buildings). Previously, Flynn served as senior vice president/director of commercial, retail and entertainment projects for a design firm in Orange, Calif.
