French Send Scottish Crime Writer to Jail (2007-09-24)
Scottish author Peter May's book "Snakehead" has landed him a jail sentence in France. French prisoners named the book one of their favorites and shortlisted it for France's most unusual literary award, the Prix Intramuros. Seven shortlisted authors face a day in jail with 12 hours of interrogations by panels of prisoners in Poitou Charentes prison. The prisoners will decide the winner who will be announced during Cognac's annual Festival of Crime Writing, "Polar & Co", on October 20.
