Tubing manufacturer NewAge Industries installed a one megawatt rooftop solar panel system and hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 8, 2011. The system – the sixth largest of its type in Pennsylvania – is now in operation and provides 50 percent of the company’s energy needs. It is, to date, NewAge’s most challenging green initiative. In attendance was U.S. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-8) who said, “You’re demonstrating an example a lot of other manufacturing organizations should take a look at.”

NewAge Industries changed its trash and recycling system, made building renovations, and stopped printing a full-line product catalog, all in an effort to go green. The company has reduced energy and paper usage and the amount of trash destined for landfills. The changes have also saved the company 60% in trash hauling charges—so far.
