 KTGY Principal Ken Ryan to Speak on Sustainable Transportation Solutions, TODs & Community Building at Ninth Annual Southern California Transportation Summit (2010-10-21)
KTGY Principal Ken Ryan Invited to Speak on Sustainable Transportation Solutions, TODs and Community Building at Mobility 21's Ninth Annual Southern California Transportation Summit, held on Friday, October 29, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, Calif. With over 25 years of experience, Ryan is a principal and head of KTGY’s Community Planning and Urban Design Studio. Ryan and his studio are actively involved in transit oriented development including the Corona High Speed Rail Transportation District, Duarte's Gold Line Transit Village and Anaheim's ARTIC Multimodal Transportation District, located next to Angel Stadium, which received the 2009 Gold Nugget Outstanding On-the-Boards Site Plan Grand Award and the 2010 Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) Compass Blueprint Award.
 KTGY-Designed Eco-Friendly Senior Housing Breaks Ground in Northern California (2010-10-19)
Urban Housing Communities has commenced construction on Horizons at Morgan Hill, a 49-unit affordable senior housing community in Morgan Hill, Calif., designed by KTGY. This new $21.2 million community will offer healthy, supportive and eco-friendly apartment homes to seniors 55 years and older earning between 30 percent and 50 percent of Santa Clara County median income. KTGY's Principal Ken Ryan has been invited to participate as a speaker at the City of Fresno's Workshop, "Making Transit Oriented Development (TOD) a Reality in the San Joaquin Valley," on Friday, May 28, 2010, at the Fresno Convention Center. Ryan's presentation, “TOD Development: Design Trends, Considerations and Everything Else Mother Never Taught You," will feature the latest trends in the design of TODs including innovative, environmental-friendly technologies as well as how to create successful TODs that complement, revitalize and support the local economy. Ryan will highlight TOD examples, review lessons learned from initial ideas to the built environment, and offer insights regarding the challenges and opportunities for addressing the issues of place, livability, demographics/lifestyle, phasing, and mobility from a design perspective. Attendees will be provided a handout summarizing key Design Guideline considerations, areas to avoid, and elements to embrace as part of TOD planning. His presentation will start at 2:30 pm. 1 |
