Fairview Heights, IL (FPRC) January 2006 -- "Deceptive Diagnosis: When Sin is Called Sickness" seeks to challenge Christians to adopt a biblical world view in understanding the cause and solution to the non-physical problems of man. This book explores some of the most common concepts of psychological problems that people struggle with, as well as why these views are not only unsupported by the Bible, but are in conflict with biblical doctrine.
The authors, Dr. David Tyler and Dr. Kurt Grady of the Gateway Biblical Counseling & Training Center, examine the Church's growing tendency to pathologize every form of spiritual discomfort. They believe that instead of seeking God's definitions and explanations of human behavior, more and more pastors, elders, and congregations are accepting a secular world-view which is based on humanistic psychology rather than the Bible. The forward of the book is written by Dr. Ed Bulkley, President, International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC), and can be read at www.gateway-biblical-counseling.net.
"Deceptive Diagnosis: When Sin is Called Sickness" is due to be published in March 2006 by Focus Publishing of Bemidji, Minnesota.
