January 24, 2006 (FPRC) -- “My sister recently gave me a 1988 Ford Escort for my 16th birthday that she had previously owned. Within a month the alternator blew and my battery was slaughtered because of it” says Terra W. of Houston, TX. Wow, what a nice birthday present, thanks big sis.
No one is safe, young or old, man or woman, rich or poor, if you drive a car you will come face to face with car repairs and a car mechanic. Are you prepared, do you already have a mechanic that has your best interest in mind? Is there such a person?
The high price of auto repair is bad enough, but the aggravation and time loss that a mechanical break down can cause can be just as damaging to your mental wellbeing as well as your pocket book.
Even if you are given a car as a gift, or were able to purchase a used car at a great price, chances are you will still be faced with a major unexpected breakdown sooner or later. Is there anything the driver can do to protect themselves from unexpected repairs and the expense that follows?
There are simple steps one can take to help prevent unexpected major car repairs and the unpleasant effects of having to deal with this stressful situation.
