The Life And Times Of Little Nellie’s Father, An Interview With Wing Commander Kenneth H Wallis By Christopher Johnson
With twin machine guns, fixed to 100 yards using incendiaries and high explosives; a cluster of aerial mines, twin rocket packs, forward firing on each side; two air-to-air heat seeking missiles and twin smoke generators/flame throwers firing astern, 'Little Nellie' packs a powerful punch if you ever find yourself up against a fleet of SPECTRE helicopters.

“Tiger, contact M. Tell him to send Little Nellie. Repeat. Little Nellie. Suggest she be accompanied by her father. Most urgent.” It is with these words that James Bond summons Little Nellie to help him track down SPECTRE in the 1967 film 'You Only Live Twice'. She arrives with her on-screen father in the guise of “Q” portrayed by Desmond Llewelyn. In reality 'Little Nellie’s' father is her creator, Wing Commander Kenneth H Wallis, who also doubled for Sean Connery and piloted his unique aircraft in the film. “It was a totally new experience - one that I did not realise would have such a long lasting effect and one that I was fortunate to have undertaken.”
