February 14, 2006 (FPRC) -- The Hale Makai Cottages on the North Shore of Kauai are celebrating their first Anniversary of independent Internet based Operations.

When Rike & Klaus Burmeister purchased the Hale Makai Cottages in the spring of 2002, they had no clear vision on how they would use the property in the long run. There was no plan on whether to keep the cottages as vacation rentals or whether to turn them into private homes for the family.
The rental agency, which had managed Hale Makai for almost 20 years was initially kept on board, while the Burmeister's gradually found themselves more and more involved with the rental aspects of their property.

In the summer of 2004 they bought two adjacent lots to Hale Makai creating a park like setting for the Cottages by the sea. Rike & Klaus found themselves spending a substantial amount of their time on the island. They were so closely involved in Hale Makai operations, that the next transition almost developed naturally! They were now ready to manage Hale Makai on their own.

Kristin Willis joined the Team in February 2005 and the dynamic trio launched a strong Internet based vacation rental business. Kristin can be contacted for more information using her direct line at (510) 481-4474: Email info@halemakaicottages.com or through the website at http://www.halemakaicottages.com

Kristin was put in charge of guest relationships and the website at http://www.halemakaicottages.com while Klaus and Rike took on the challenge for future planning and development of the Hale Makai Property.

The established goals of the teams were to:

-Improve guest relationship with more personal contact and attention
-Improve the booking procedures for the guests
-Provide information on the website for easier vacation planning
-Provide individual assistance for event planning such as weddings / honeymoons, family reunions and small business retreats.
-Create a tropical and secluded garden
-Maintain the cottages in a rustic and Hawaiian style manner

After revisiting the property a year later, a dramatic change in appearance and operations shine through and through. The transition with the new management makes Hale Makai Cottages a one of a kind vacation destination more than ever. In fact it is paradise!
