Wells, Maine -- David Patterson has completed the transactions that give him full ownership of the Canbury Homes name, a company that provides turn-key, custom modular homes in the Portland and Yarmouth area, and throughout York and Cumberland Counties.

Canbury Homes was founded by Patterson in 2003 and continues to be a local, family-run business. He bought out other family members to become the sole owner of the Canbury Homes name.

The company is focused on quality custom homes using modular construction and design. The process enables home owners to obtain higher quality for a lower price than traditional construction, according to Patterson.

"Generally, capes, ranches, colonials and other traditional style homes are much less expensive with modular. The entire process is faster, and the quality of construction is higher than with traditional construction," explained Patterson.

Over 1,000 modular homes are built in Maine each year. This is a growing trend as more and more people become aware of the advantages of modular construction. Canbury Homes is a leading builder of modular homes in southern Maine.

In addition to cost savings, many people are drawn to modular homes because of the quality and flexibility to allow for unique custom designs and upgrades. The modular units are built in a "weather-free" environment, which enables year round construction and higher quality. The process also provides for year-round employment for skilled labor that might otherwise face interruptions in work schedules due to bad weather.

"As consumers become more knowledgeable about modular homes, they are attracted to the many benefits this type of construction offers. Modular homes provide lower construction costs, flexibility to incorporate custom designs requested by the home buyer, and a higher quality than traditional ‘stick built' homes," explained Frank Corbett of Canbury Homes.

Home buyers who are unfamiliar with modular construction may be surprised when they see samples of custom homes. The company has available building lots, or can construct a home on a lot obtained by the buyer. Corbett said anyone interested in seeing completed homes and learning about the modular home process can arrange for a tour. Information on financing is also available, he added.

"We want people to see for themselves that modular is the best type of construction for both quality and savings. I think most people have an idea what they want, and need just a bit of guidance. Often times they are looking for a little reassurance that they are making the right choice," said Patterson.

The ownership change enables Patterson family members to give their focused attention to each of the Patterson family businesses. These include PATCO Construction, Somix Technologies, Adam Blakey Land Development, Residential Appraisal Services, Dirigo Mortgage, and Canbury Homes.

The company maintains a web site at www.Canbury.com.
