IRVINE, CA – Award-winning KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning, is the selected architect for Bellevue Center in Pasadena, Calif., which features a two-story Whole Foods Market’s west coast flagship store containing 75,000-square-feet and is supported by three levels of subterranean parking on the site of a historic building at the southwest corner of Arroyo Parkway and Bellevue Drive.

“This has been an exciting and challenging project to design and plan; a multi-level project on a very tight site that incorporates elements of the 80-year-old existing historic structure with the new, creating a sense of style and architecture that is unique and different,” says Albert Croft, principal at KTGY.

To maximize the 1.2-acre site, the three levels of subterranean parking will house more than 280 cars. Escalators and cartilators, an ideal system for transporting shopping carts similar to escalators, will move shoppers conveniently through the two-levels.

“We are very pleased that the City of Pasadena and Whole Foods Market have been so supportive of this project. Bellevue Center will be a new landmark building for the community and a flagship store for Whole Foods Market,” Greg Lyon, principal at KTGY notes.

The new project is well-located on the east side of Metro Rail Gold Line and just north of the new Metro Rail Station so that commuters can conveniently grab a meal on the run or do their grocery shopping before they head home.

Demolition and excavation is already underway. Completion is expected in summer 2007. CW Driver of Pasadena is the general contractor. Developed by Bellevue Ventures, LLC, Gordon Ekstrand is the managing partner.
