Minicom to showcase audio/video distribution systems for digital signage at Chicago\'s Digital Retailing Expo 2006

May 10, 2006 (FPRC) --

Minicom Advanced Systems, the principal expert in Audio/Video and Serial distribution systems for digital signage, will be showcasing its "last mile" connectivity solutions for the digital signage retail market at the Digital Retailing Expo, May 17th to 18th. Visitors are cordially invited to Minicom's booth, stand 1645, at the Donald Stephenson Convention Center, near Chicago's O'Hare airport.

Minicom's audio and video display systems are designed for distribution of rich, dynamic content in digital display networks. The systems can narrowcast high-resolution video and high quality audio, from any player or video server, to any plasma or LCD screen over standard CAT5 cable. The low density CAT5 cabling makes it possible to extend displays up to 110m/360ft away from the player without any degradation of quality.

The Video Display System (VDS) and the Audio Video Display System (AVDS) can work without any additional computing power at the display side, allowing businesses to save on the cost of ownership. The systems allow for a very high ratio of screens per source of content. Together, it adds up to a significant saving on the cost of displays for large digital signage networks.

"Integrators choose Minicom content distribution systems because they provide superior price performance. Distribution of content over CAT5 cabling is the most stable and reliable way of ensuring real time display to multiple screens, and we make it affordable for our partners to deliver high quality video over long distances," says Saul Mishaan, President of Minicom, North America.

Minicom's audio/video distribution systems are installed in hundreds of digital signage installations across the world and can be found in retail stores, transportation systems, airports, restaurants, and many government installations.
