June 17, 2006 (FPRC) -- On June 4, 2006 at the JCK International Jewelry Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, Jerry and Connie Pheng Young, Founders of INTA Gems, presented Donna Baker, President, and Patricia Syvrud, Director of In-Kind Gifts of the GIA with Nightchime® Blue Sapphire and Diamond Necklace and Earrings designed by Peter Young.
A donation to the GIA Museum, the Nightchime® Blue Sapphire and Diamond Necklace and Earrings are crafted from 48 cabochon shaped blue sapphires and 189 round brilliant white diamonds weighing a total weight of 46.02 carats. The gems are set in 14K white gold.
The Blue Sapphire and Diamond Nightchime® jewelry design was inspired by softly singing wind chimes on a starry, moonlit night on the Mediterranean.
Peter Young, INTA Gems’ jewelry designer, described the inspiration of Nightchime®, “Last summer on a trip to Dubrovnik, Croatia, I fondly remember a night walking along the Adriatic Sea. I heard soft, wind chimes and gently lapping waves. There was a gorgeous full moon and the stars were shining brightly against a rich, blue background. At that moment, I wanted to create a jewelry design that would capture that beautiful night in my life. I hope that the inspiration for this dazzling ensemble would sing to others like those melodic night chimes sang to me that perfect evening.”
“In my Nightchime® design, the center oval diamond shape and oval cabochon blue sapphire embodies the glowing moon. The sparkling, white diamonds accenting the piece provide the intense, starlit shine. The navy blue sapphires and white diamonds suspended from the centerpiece enhance the dramatic feeling of a dark sky against a sparkling sea. Hanging like metal chimes, the swaying gems represent the movement of an instrument played by the wind. It is a design meant to make a statement on a memorable evening.”
In addition to the jewelry pieces, the GIA Museum was also presented with the original hand drawn Nightchime® design rendering by Peter Young along with an artistic photo taken by Darick Dayne, Ph.D, of Tamiko Nash, MISS CALIFORNIA USA® 2006 modeling the necklace and earrings.
Asked about INTA Gems designs, Tamiko Nash said, “I love INTA Gems’ jewelry and especially the sultry Nightchime® pieces. It’s very striking and perfect for an elegant event or an extraordinary evening around town. For the woman who has everything, this design will definitely make her heart sing.”
The INTA Gems’ Nightchime® Blue Sapphire and Diamond Necklace and Earrings will be on display at the GIA Museum in California. It will be a permanent part of the GIA Museum Collection, which travels around the world on exhibition.
