When asked what the motivation behind the website was, Charles (gamblingdictionary.com's webmaster)responded by saying that "The world of gambling has a vocabulary that is very unique and it's not easy
to pick up without some help. Now I had a friend in Vegas that helped me out on my first visit. If it wasn't for Thomas I would have never been able to follow the action at the Craps table." With the proliferation of online gambling and weekend poker games there is a whole new segment of gamblers that "don't have the luxury of their own 'Thomas'."
Unlike other sites that offer a few terms or game specific terms, Gamblingdictionary.com has endeavored to provided the most comprehensive collection of terms regardless of their game. The
collection is so complete that it even includes a section devoted to "cheating" terms. This also happens to be Charles's favorite section. According to Charles the "terms are just fun to read." Charles also likes to point out that there are some 'easter eggs' hidden in the terms, "My team thought it would be fun to sneak in a few silly descriptions into the terms. I haven't found them all yet myself but I have had a few chuckles while looking for them."
