Leading Dutch Wholesaler Selects Zoomix Self-Learning System to Consolidate and Improve Supplier Product Data

September 18, 2006 (FPRC) -- Jerusalem, Israel – Zoomix, a provider of advanced enterprise master data quality solutions, today announced that Vegro has selected Zoomix’s master data quality software. The software is being used to enable better supplier data integration and improved customer-facing communication, including e-commerce and printed product catalogs. Vegro, a leading heating equipment and bathroom fixture wholesaler in the Netherlands, expects to increase sales considerably as a result of its new product data capabilities.
Vegro sought a solution to perform the recurring consolidation of product data from about 100 suppliers into their ERP system. Efficient and accurate matching between items was critical to avoid importing duplicate entries for identical products. Because the company deals with hundreds of thousands of items, no manual or rule-based system would suffice.
A second primary requirement was to have an automated system in place to standardize the existing and incoming product data so that each item would have a consistent and clear set of attributes describing the product. These full and standardized product attributes will enable the company to dramatically improve its e-commerce Web site, where Vegro’s customers will be able to browse, search and compare products according to any characteristics they choose. Printed and electronic product catalogs will also be more complete, more consistent and easier to use.
“We selected Zoomix over alternative vendors, because we realized that conventional rule-based systems would not be able to effectively address our needs in a complex product data environment such as ours,” said Ton Rombout, Vegro’s IT Manager. “After a surprisingly short ramp-up period, we were already seeing substantial improvements in our supply chain processes. I expect that this new degree of control over the integration of our many vendors’ product data will allow us to significantly reduce time to market for new products, increase sales and improve customer loyalty.”
