September 29, 2006 (FPRC) --

An innovative reporting tool has been developed to provide instant analysed research statistics through a web based interface.

The Public Service Compact, representing 28 major employers and 120,000 employees across Birmingham and Solihull, commissioned visual communications company iceni® to deliver a key promotional project across multiple media channels. The project aims to raise awareness of opportunities in the Public Service sector to a diverse audience from a range of backgrounds and age groups.

Central to the project is a reporting system that records responses from an online questionnaire, processes statistics, and delivers them instantly. Authenticated users can read comments posted on the microsite as they come in, and the reporting tool allows the user to create charts of interpreted data.

Cathy Bentley, Managing Director at iceni® said, ‘this project began with the Public Service Compact approaching us to deliver a film, but to deliver an effective video we had to find out what public service employees really thought about their jobs and select representative interviewees. To collect this data our online design team created the interactive research and reporting tool.’

‘Using the tool is quite addictive, you can see the comments as they are typed, and interpret the data instantly.’

Director of the Public Service Compact said, ‘the tools and methods iceni® used did, without doubt, have a positive effect on the level of response received from employees across the region.’

Careers in Public Service follows on from the acclaimed Perceptions of Public Service DVD report, and encompasses detailed research, an online reporting system, frank interviews with Public Sector employees talking about their jobs and career prospects, and traditional print advertising.

The finished film and compiled report comes packaged with printed materials to promote the activity wherever the DVD is available; in libraries, Jobcentre Plus, Colleges, Universities, Youth Centres, and Connexions across the West Midlands region.

Results of the research and an example of the reporting tool are available on a microsite specially designed by iceni www.careersinpublicservice.co.uk.
