The retired Chief of Police of the Okanogan Police Department (Washington), Michael Jaquish has degrees in Business Administration and Law Enforcement. His book, “Tales of a Country Cop in Africa,” traces the experiences of a Jaquish, a small-town cop, who, following a divorce, retired from law enforcement to pursue a career in international diplomatic security and intelligence. In 1989, he traveled to Liberia, West Africa, where, shortly after his arrival, savagery and revolution exploded across the West African countryside.
He spent the next seven years conducting security & intelligence operations for the US Embassy, NASA, USAID, Voice of America, United Nations, European Union and a variety of other government and private companies. Michael’s duties carried him to Liberia, The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Morocco and he often worked in the midst of civil war and political unrest. In the fall of 1997 he returned to the United States where he has worked primarily as a trainer and consultant for security companies such as BRINK’S, Incorporated, Blackwater USA, Pierce County Security and various fugitive recovery operations. Since the terrorist attacks on America on September 11, 2001, Michael has been deeply committed to raising the bar for professionalism within the private security industry.
Drawing from his law enforcement, academic and private security experience Michael Jaquish has also written, “The Role of the Security Officer.” This work is “an excellent choice for individuals, private consultants or college instructors searching for an appropriate student textbook that covers the fundamentals of basic security guard training. Michael Jaquish has also ventured into the realm of a science fiction writer with “Time Loves a Hero.” The book is billed as “a fast-paced science fiction novel written in the style of the early sci-fi writers. The story begins with a young couple (Troy and Dorian) in North Bend, Washington who are abducted by "Aliens" in a silver flying saucer. The plot takes an unexpected twist when the couple learns how inaccurate their initial impressions are.”
