New pH Music Single "Mercy" Garners Top Slot on National College and Mixshow Hip-hop Charts
The new 12” single “Mercy” by the group the Last Eighth, which features renowned emcee Skillz and Dumi Right from the group O.U.O/Zimbabwe Legit, was the #1 single on the Rapnetwork Record Breakers college charts and #2 on the Rapattacklives college and mixshow charts for the week of December 11, 2006.

December 12, 2006 (FPRC) -- Scoring a big win for independent labels everywhere, the 12” single “Mercy” was the #1 single on the Rapnetwork Record Breakers college charts and #2 on the Rapattacklives college and mixshow charts for the week of December 11, 2006.
The record was released and promoted totally independently with no major or indie label backing proving that there is still hope for independent musicians making good music.
Up and coming underground denizens, the Last Eighth and O.U.O got together with renowned emcee Skillz for this ill new single. "Mercy" is a free for all, take no prisoners rhyme fest over a rugged track displaying the essence of emceeing, dope rhymes, witty punch lines and dynamic delivery.
The single is the second by the group the Last Eighth based in Richmond, Virginia who are currently working on their debut album tentatively titled, Business and Pleasure.
A spokesman for pH Music commented, “This is just the type of song underground hip-hop fans have been waiting for amidst the flood of excessive commercialism and run of the mill sound-alike songs in this bling era. ” The spokesman added, "The people have spoken and "Mercy" has come out on top of the pack."
The single leverages the impact of the group O.U.O who recently released a critically acclaimed full length album, of unknown origin that is distributed internationally in conjunction with Domination Recordings. As Skillz raps out in his verse "Got a marvelous flow with that O.U.O..." Dumi Right who also appears on the track is member of O.U.O but also founding member of the groundbreaking African hip-hop group Zimbabwe Legit.
Trilogy/Foundation Media was responsible for the highly successful national and international radio promotional campaign.
