As a wider choice of plants can now be grown, as the direct result of Global Warming, the site provides specific advice on using plants for organic skin care products.

January 4, 2007 (FPRC) -- Famous for its Runner Beans, Potatoes and Leeks UK Allotments are undergoing a quiet revolution as the choice of plants grown is affected by increasing temperatures and the continuing popularity for organic natural products.
The ever-increasing share of women allotment holders – from 3 % to 16 % in the last 25 years – are just one reflection of the major changes taking place. Less than 50 % of allotment holders are retired and have brought an influx of new habits and plants.
Andy Simms, responsible for the new site, is confident the next few years will continue to see major changes. As an allotment gardener himself he has seen the changes first hand: “On my local allotment probably half the plants now are flowers grown for decoration. Linked to this there are an ever increasing amount of grapes / vines being planted as people are preparing for warmer temperatures. I have successfully grow a variety of plants used for producing a series of natural skin care products. Producing your own skin care products at home is easy and a lot of fun. There will always be a place for the ‘staple’ vegetables but allotments are getting much more interesting”
