February 21, 2007 (FPRC) -- PTG Studios is pleased to announce the selection of Thomas Aquinas College for its innovative, educational television series, Today’s Family. The school will be featured in a segment on “The Importance of Choosing the Right College,” which will air in major markets across the country.

Thomas Aquinas College’s curriculum is made up exclusively of the Great Books. There are no textbooks, no majors or minors, and no lectures. Instead, throughout the four-year program, students read the original texts of the best, most influential authors of Western civilization -- poets, scientists, mathematicians, philosophers, and theologians.

Instead of lecturing, faculty members direct and sustain classroom conversations about these texts in small seminars and laboratories. Over time, in classes of no more than 20, students develop the ability to think logically, to defend a position, to listen well, to analyze a position in terms of its underlying principles, to see its implications, and to test it for its truth or error.

The curriculum at the college has both natural and divine wisdom as its ultimate objective. In the great scholastic tradition of “faith seeking understanding,” the program is conducted under the light of the Catholic faith.

Founded in 1971, this private, co-educational undergraduate institution is located in Santa Paula, CA. It has a maximum enrollment of 350 students from 40 states and 6 countries; the average SAT score is 1295. There are 34 tutors on the teaching faculty, 74 percent of whom have doctorates.

Thomas Aquinas College is highly acclaimed for the rigorous nature of its academic program, its vibrant spiritual life, and for the development of character and leadership in its students. Students graduate with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts and go on to positions of leadership in education, law, medicine, business, government, military service, and the priesthood and religious life.

According to U.S. News & World Report’s 2005 edition of “America’s Best Colleges,” Thomas Aquinas was ranked among the top 110 liberal arts colleges nationwide -- one of only four Catholic colleges in the country to be so ranked. In addition, it is the only Catholic liberal arts college in the United Sates to be named a “best value” by U.S. News. The college is also ranked first in the country by U.S. News for largest percentage of classes under 20 (100%).
