March 5, 2007 (FPRC) -- IRVINE, CALIF. - Award-winning KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning, is pleased to announce its latest achievement at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders’ Show in Florida where KTGY earned silver awards at two different awards shows celebrating the firm’s design excellence and success. The San Fernando Valley Chapter of The American Institute of Architects (AIA/SFV) also honored KTGY with the organization’s “Design Excellence Award.”
At The Nationals competition, KTGY received a Silver Award for the “Best Single Family Detached Home Priced $400,000 to $650,000” for Oceana (Plan 1). In its 26th year, the awards are presented by the NAHB’s National Sales and Marketing Council (NSMC).
Located in Hercules, Calif., Oceana (Plan 1) is reminiscent of the historic Bay area style. The walk-up stoop animates the vertical façade with special interest created by the intricately detailed box bay. The developer and builder is John Laing Homes in Roseville, Calif.
KTGY also received two Best In American Living Awards at the International Builder’s Show. Silver awards were presented to KTGY for its Bayside neighborhood design in the categories of “Best Neighborhood 151 Units & Over” and “Best Smart Growth Community 151 Units & Over.” Cosponsored by Professional Builder magazine and NAHB, the Best In American Living Awards is the foremost residential design competition in the country. It pays tribute to those individuals who create homes that illustrate design quality, success in the marketplace, and exemplify the best in American living.
Bayside is a mixture of diverse residential and live/work housing styles built on 32.6 acres of former vacant industrial land in Hercules, Calif. The development consists of 334 homes, tree-lined streets, and landscaped paseos flanked on two sides by wetlands and on a third by a creek.
“These natural boundaries created a permanent void in the urban fabric that required the design of a perimeter street and bike trail, thus turning this new neighborhood out and placing a public interface to these open spaces,” said Jill Williams, AIA, principal at KTGY. The developers and builders are John Laing Homes in Roseville, Calif. and William Lyon Homes in San Ramon, Calif.
The San Fernando Valley Chapter of The American Institute of Architects (AIA/SFV) also recognized KTGY and awarded KTGY’s Ritter Ranch Master Plan with the highly prized “Best Community Design” at its 20th annual AIA/SFV Design Excellence Award on January 13, 2007 in Burbank, Calif.
Ritter Ranch is set in Palmdale at the western edge of the Antelope Valley near scenic Leona Valley. Plans for its estimated 18 square miles encompass: approximately 7,000 homes, about 73 acres of commercial development (including a town center), an 18-hole Greg Norman Signature Golf Course with clubhouse, public schools, an equestrian center, community facilities including library and fire station, swim center, amphitheater, recreation center, a lake, an expansive park and playground system, and over 80 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian paths linking to trails in the planned 7,000 acres of permanently protected natural open space. The developer and builder is SunCal Companies.
“We truly appreciate the great honor and recognition for our design excellence. These designs have been achieved through great teamwork and tireless dedication,” added Jeff Mayer, principal at KTGY.
