Byl Butler To Take The Reins Of Western Movie-Literally
Drydock Film Corporation set to begin production on third motion picture in two years.

Fries, Virginia (FPRC) June 3, 2007 -- Byl Butler, who did the choreography for A Chorus Line on Broadway and was a production specialist for Television’s hit series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, has signed on as the Production Coordinator for Drydock Film Corporation’s third film, Marshals, I.T. which is set to begin filming July 5th.
Over a hundred and ten people came to a local casting call at the 1910 Fries Theater on May 19th including professional actors from Marilyns, Maultsby, and the Brock Agency in North Carolina. Film director Charles Howard Thomas has worked with the Brock Agency before casting actors in his first film MORNING SONG WAY, which screened locally at the Top Ten Films In America Festival in April. Butler, will arrive this week and will begin working immediately to put everything in place for the western which has over a hundred parts as well as extras. Butler will work with local photographer Corey Jones, of Galax who will be the production assistant and her assistant Ashley Stowe of Charlotte, North Carolina. Local Actress, Glenda Bean, who will also have a part in the film will also work with production. Jerry Keys, who had a small role in Drydock’s second movie SPIES and MOLASSES, will return to Drydock as a cameraman in the production unit. Jerry Vencill of Tazewell, County will be a historical consultant and an actor in the film. Danny Wingate of Elk Creek has already assisted on some location scouting and will be on board as both an actor and as the film’s primary wrangler. Local actor’s will be involved in the production including some with major roles. Dan Taylour of Gretna and Joey Marion and Stan Gentry of Mt. Airy will have parts. Local celebrity model Carleigh Griffeth will not have a large role in this particular film but will be in it and is being considered for major roles in future films by Drydock.
Brooke Hidde, who starred in SPIES and MOLASSES will return to Drydock, this time as the main star. She will play Lily Birdsong, a bigger than life historical girl who handled a gun and went after the men who killed her family in 1888. Brian Hall, the main star of SPIES and MOLASSES will come back to Fries from his new Hollywood home to play the bad guy this time. Also returning for another role in a second film with Drydock are Catherine Sewell, who played the assistant district attorney in MORNING SONG WAY and John Willard who played a private detective in SPIES and MOLASSES. Oklahoma veteran Native American actor, Jeff Anderson will also return to make his second film with Drydock. Anderson has been a very busy actor since making MORNING SONG WAY in Fries two years ago and has starred in two films with other companies in between. Damaskas Thomas, the director’s son and Ryan Thomas, the director’s nephew will also have roles in the film. Damaskas only had two lines in Thomas’ first film and one scene in the second, but is slated for a strong supporting role this time around. Damaskas Thomas attends Gladeville Elementary School. His brothers Jasper and Mathew will also be in the film as extras. A lot of the rest of the slate has been decided but working arrangements with agents and actors have yet to be ironed out.
