June 6, 2007 (FPRC) -- Los Angeles DUI Attorney, Kenton Koszdin, a Premium Member of DUI Defenders discusses his strategy for taking his latest dui case to trial. Koszdin who is trying a dui case in the same exact forum where Paris Hilton was sentenced vows to keep his client off the stand because:
1- Some judges may feel the defendant is lying under oath and when comes to sentencing, they give defendant a harsher sentence
2- Placing client on the stand makes the case about client and client’s drunk driving. By not placing the client on the stand, the case is about the validity of the prosecutor’s case
3- By placing client on the stand, the prosecutor can bring about inconsistencies and exploit them.
Koszdin will start jury selection on a dui case at Division 60 of Superior Court Metro on June 5, 2007. This is the same exact courthouse where Paris Hilton was charged and finally sentenced for drunk driving. In that case, Hilton pled guilty to wet reckless.
Koszdin’s client (name withheld for confidentiality) was arrested and charged with dui with blood alcohol level of .09. The Los Angeles District Attorney offered a wet reckless, the same offer made to Paris Hilton and accepted by Hilton. But the client on advice of Koszdin rejected the offer and the trial will start on June 5, 2007 at Metro division. Koszdin expects the trial to last about 3 days.
