June 7, 2007 (FPRC) -- The American Yankee Association (AYA), The International Grumman-American Pilots Association, will hold its annual conference and convention this year in Glens Falls, New York, June 24th-28th, 2007. In excess of 125 airplanes and 230 pilots and crew will fly into Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport from locations throughout the United States and Canada. In addition, we expect to have members arriving from all around the world including the United Kingdom, Germany, other parts of the European Union, and Australia.
The Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls will be the center of operations. Hotel activity will include safety briefings and seminars from noted aviation speakers such as Dr. Roscoe Rosché, from the AOPA Air Safety Foundation, speaking about effective and safe communication in aviation, as well as Todd Petersen of Petersen Aviation, providing his expert view on the future of aviation fuel and its impact on flying. In addition, events will be held at the airport to demonstrate maintenance, safety, and airmanship skills. Other events will include judging of AYA members’ airplanes for appearance and condition.
“The AYA is more than just a type-club”, said Captain Nigel Thomas, AYA President, from his home in southern England, “it is more like a worldwide family held together by our affection and respect for Grumman-American and Tiger aircraft”.
The AYA is the owners' organization for light aircraft manufactured by the American, Grumman, Gulfstream, American General and Tiger Aircraft Corporations, with over 2000 members from six continents. For more information, go to www.aya.org
