June 18, 2007 (FPRC) -- A new online community has been launched with the primary purpose of helping its members raise money for plastic surgery procedures.

In 2006, California based Vanpaen, LLC set out to provide the public with simple and useful web communities. These communities would target the needs of very specific social groups. Its first community, AugmentationNation.com, takes elements from social networking communities and combines them with online donation technology. Along with reference materials and an extensive surgeon database, Augmentation Nation provides a complete supportive environment for plastic surgery seekers.

The number of plastic surgery procedures performed in the United Stats has been increasing steadily over the past few years. Procedures were up 7% in 2006 totaling approximately 11 million, according to the ASPS. Combine this statistic with the growing popularity of social networking sites and the simplicity of online donations, and you have a recipe for success. The public perception of plastic surgery is shifting from ‘taboo and exclusive’ to ‘acceptable and affordable.’

“Plastic surgery is not about vanity or pleasing others, but about improving self-esteem and boosting self-confidence. Do it for yourself.” said Michael Modecki, CEO of Vanpaen, LLC. “A person who feels good about themselves is going to function better in the world. If we can help others take steps to improve their outlook on life, then we have successfully done what we set out to do.”

Unlike competitors, Augmentation Nation has strict guidelines regarding nudity and the exploitation of its members. Also, Augmentation Nation does not profit from the transactions. The donation transactions are handled by a reputable third-party processor through the use of their available secure financial technology. These funds are deposited according to the specification of the recipient and are immediately available. In addition, Augmentation Nation has pledged to donate a portion of their advertising revenue to Operation Smile, a non-profit organization that provides facial reconstruction surgeries for children around the world.

The goal of Augmentation Nation is to help people educate themselves about plastic surgery, make an informed decision, and then raise the money to help them achieve their plastic surgery goals. It also provides an opportunity for people to give gifts that will have a profound impact on a person’s life and gives them a chance to see these gifts in action. In addition, Augmentation Nation offers very competitive advertising opportunities for plastic surgeons.
