June 25, 2007 (FPRC) -- A new service is giving people large cash rewards for reporting neighbours who have run away from their debts.

On http://www.DebtCatchers.com anyone can anonymously report someone they suspect has run up debts then “vanished” – moved home without telling anyone or leaving a forwarding address.

If the information is used to successfully track down a bad debtor, they will get a cash reward. Depending on the size of debt that could be thousands of pounds.

DebtCatchers.com director Paul Matthews said: “It’s us normal law abiding people who have to pay higher prices, because of people who run away without taking responsibility for their debts. Now there’s nowhere to hide.

“DebtCatchers is such a simple concept. People just have to tell us about anyone they suspect is running from debt. When we have a client looking for that person then we anonymously pay a generous cash reward.

People who “vanish” without a forwarding address make a large contribution to outstanding UK debt. In the first few years of the decade, nearly £2 billion of consumer debt was written off each year.

These people are known in the industry as “gone aways”. It’s sometimes impossible to find them using traditional tracing methods.

The new DebtCatchers service is totally anonymous and works across the UK.

There are some simple things the firm suggests people look out for, including:

• A neighbour who moves just a few streets away
• People who move back in with their parents
• Someone who changes their name for no obvious reason (like marriage)
• Gossip around town that someone’s done a “runner” leaving unpaid bills behind

Paul added: “As a society we are more comfortable these days with reporting someone who has done something clearly wrong. The success of the government’s benefits cheat helpline shows that.

“We hope that in the long-term this will teach people to take more responsibility for the debt problems they have, not just run away from them.”

• Report someone today and claim your cash reward at http://www.DebtCatchers.com
