July 12, 2007 (FPRC) -- Audrey Walker, a native Oregonian and local actress spent time this Spring working as the photo double and stand-in for actress Diane Lane in the movie “Untraceable” which was shot in the Portland metropolitan area. Working 12-16 hour days Audrey Walker says “I was so fortunate to work with such a lovely group of people. The actors, director and crew were extremely hard working and a fun group to work with.”

“Untraceable”, starring Diane Lane, Billy Burke and Colin Hanks, written by Allison Burnett and directed by Gregory Hoblit follows and FBI cyber cop as she races against time to track down an on-line killer.

The movie is the second movie to be produced here in Portland, Oregon by Lakeshore Entertainment.

Audrey Walker’s primary job responsibilities were to substitute for Diane Lane for camera blocking and technical setups. “I had to watch every rehearsal and take written notes of where she walked, how fast, at what angle, did she take a pause? Did she look down, up or to the side and when? I remember one day just falling on my elbows over and over again. They eventually bled and now I have two scars.” laughs Walker. “Crazy.”

Stand-ins are helpful in the initial processes of production. Lighting setup can be a slow and tedious process; during this time the actor will often be somewhere else. Stand-ins allow the director of photography to light the set, the camera department to light and focus scenes. The director will often ask stand-ins to deliver the scene dialogue ("lines") and walk through ("blocking") the scenes to be filmed. In this way, a good stand-in can help speed up the day's production and is a necessary and valuable cast member on a film.

She also worked on the film as Lane’s photo double. “I cut off over 9 inches of my hair. I remember the stylist putting it in a ponytail and chopping it off before holding it in front of me ‘do you want it?’ she asked me. I politely declined, I think it’s being used on a special effects dummy some where.” stated Walker. She was made to be a double of the lead "star" actor, Lane, for the director, Gregory Hoblit. Meaning she will be seen on camera during the movie. Some of these many "double" scenes could be long or wide shots, establishing shots, driving shots, complicated 'over-the-shoulder' shots or in quick 'insert' close-up shots involving only showing actor's body parts.
“Untraceable” will open in theaters in 2008.
