Planting and Gardening Becoming Increasingly Popular Among the Younger Generation
Planting and gardening is becoming more and more widespread as an activity for everyone to enjoy. The news comes on the back of a survey completed by a gardening website which revealed that of the 37% that do more than 10 hours per month in their garden on a recreational basis, 18% were under the age of 22.

August 12, 2007 (FPRC) -- A gardening and planting advice website --www.plantinggardening.com -- has announced the results of the study which it completed, revealing that a large percentage of their audience, that are more active gardeners, are under the age of 22. The results were formed from a survey which they asked their website visitors to complete. Of the people who completed more than 10 hours per week in their garden, 18% were under the age of 22.
Planting Gardening Executive Editor Jess Scott explained her feelings behind the results: "One concern that I have is that internet users are more likely to be younger, so the demographic of the people who completed the survey could be slightly skewed. Apart from that, I am happy with the results and glad to hear that gardening is not going to be something which is going to die with future generations. Gardening is an enjoyable activity, and asides from computer games and night clubs, there is certainly room in young peoples life's to enjoy gardening too!"
The website, which provides how to guides, and information for planting and gardening, is increasing in traffic on a monthly basis according to the company behind the website, Red Media. They also plan to further evolve the website, to cater for younger gardeners, by offering forums and blogging for everyone to participate in. They feel that the younger audience could be the first to really get behind this new direction, and hope that their older users will soon follow.
