August 19, 2007 (FPRC) --The Wishing Flower by Mosetta Penick Phillips-Cermak, Ph.D. uses fundamental concepts to bolster self-esteem and reassure children of their parents' love in this delightful fairy tale for children of all ages.

"The Wishing Flower represents every child in the world. From the flower, the children see that you don't have to be perfect to be loved and valued," said Dr. Penick Phillips-Cermak.

She is the author of this just released fairy tale book available online at http://www.lulu.com/content/1039842, Amazon.com, and Google Books.

This is a short fantasy written for mothers and fathers to share with their children. It offers an original story about how special and unique each child is.

Parents who read this story to their children reinforce the child’s self-concept and convey to them just how much they are wanted and loved.

"I call it a family fairy tale," continued Dr. Penick Phillips-Cermak.
"Classic fairy tales were written for entertainment, to explain situations that humans did not understand, so they could make sense of their lives.
Fairy tales taught life-lessons, and scared children into obedience. Because of that time in history when most fairy tales were written, many fairy tales feature children being eaten, sold into servitude, and other aspects that are questionable moral practices by today’s standards.
This fairy tale isn’t like that. It uses stable literary elements to help adults reinforce feelings of security in children. If every adult would commit to reading this fairy tale to just one child, I believe that each one [adult] could reach one [child]. I hope this encourages parents to read to their children".
