September 5, 2007 (FPRC) -- Vancouver, BC – When Vancouver-based author Geoffrey M. Gluckman (www.geoffreygluckman.com) could not get his U.S. publisher to create the cover he wanted for Deadly Exchange, he turned to local artist, Melissa Gilbert (www.melissagilbert.ca). Though just out a few months, the spy thriller is gathering positive praise. Yet, a great story is nothing without a cover to match, which is where Gilbert, a May 2006 Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design graduate, enters the picture.

According to the Gluckman, he and Gilbert had worked on another project before, so he knew of her tremendous talent. Gilbert, born and raised in Kamloops, British Columbia, specializes in illustrations, drawings, paintings, and digital artwork. She also performs commissions and 3-D artwork, including ceramics and sculpture.

“When Geoff told me of the troubles he was having with the designers used by the publisher, I said I would love a chance to do it,” says Gilbert.

With skills in such a variety of mediums, Gluckman was fully confident in Gilbert’s ability to transform his general ideas into stunning cover art reality. The trick was the short time frame—one week—as the book was slated for print in a few weeks time.

Fortunately, Gilbert stepped right in and created the perfect design, and has gone on to create a matching bookmark and dedicated website for the novel, available at any Chapters bookstore.

Deadly Exchange is a riveting romantic espionage adventure tale that unfolds within the walls of corporate America. It takes the reader back to the roots of the nation and propels you into the near future of technological nightmare. This book can change how you look at your boss, your job, even your life.

In addition to Gilbert’s artistic talents, she also provides wedding photography services and invitation designs.

“[Gilbert] really was a life-saver,” says Gluckman, who drew from his background as a federal agent and exercise physiologist to write this technological thriller. “If nothing else, buy the book for the awesome cover.”
