The "Standing Up To Bullying" Conference coming to Bentonville, AR

This conference offers Educators, parents, and the community with solutions to the issues of youth bullying and violence.

September 10, 2007 (FPRC) -- With the rise of youth bullying and school violence, Building Strong Families National Seminars, http://www.StrongFamilies.us, is presenting a powerful conference entitled, “Standing Up To Bullying” on Thursday, October 11th, 2007 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the:

Wingate Inn Airport
7400 Southwest Old Farm Boulevard
Bentonville, AR 72712
(Pizza dinner is included)

This conference is designed to equip school administrators, educators, school social workers, school counselors, school psychologists, parents, youth workers, child care workers, and anyone else who works with children, with skills and tools geared to minimize youth bullying and school violence. This conference addresses the following:

- Characteristics that make specific children capable of bullying others or become a target for bullying.
- How emotional problems affect children.
- The role of the self-esteem and its affect on bullying.
- How body and verbal language impacts on bullying.
- How the terms ‘standing up for oneself’ and ‘tattling’ have been redefined in our society.
- Managing and attending to child misbehavior.
- Applying effective ADHD techniques.
- Developing an effective behavior management program.
- Specific communication skills that motivate and encourage compliance in children.
- Effectively integrating social and conflict resolution skills.
- Empowering children who are victimized by bullying.
- Teaching compromising and negotiating skills to resolve conflicts.
- Using non-physical de-escalation techniques in crisis situations.
- Applying self-defense techniques.
- Recognizing and preventing burnout.

Mark Lakewood, with over 20 years experience as a clinical mental health therapist and author, will be the speaker/trainer at this event.

The cost per participant is $35.00. However, a 10% discount will apply for those that pay online.
