October 29, 2007 (FPRC) -- ORANGE, CALIF. -- Wellington Franchise Systems, the area developer for Sport Clips in Orange County, Inland Empire and Southern Nevada, announced today that starting today Sport Clips will offer clients the opportunity to help American soldiers call home this holiday season. The effort will culminate with what the company is calling “The Biggest Haircut Day of the Year,” a National Cut-a-Thon on Veterans’ Day, November 11, when $1 from every haircut service will be donated to Operation Uplink.

Operation Uplink is a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) program that keeps military personnel and hospitalized veterans in touch with their families and loved ones. Sport Clips partners with the VFW through Vet Fran franchising and preferential in-store pricing for veterans and has chosen to support Operation Uplink through this first-time national Veterans’ Day effort.

“With almost 500 stores from coast to coast, Sport Clips and our clients have the incredible opportunity to make calling home on December 25 a reality for our service men and women,” says Gordon Logan, an Air Force veteran, VFW member, and Sport Clips Founder and CEO. “I know how important it is to hear the voices of loved ones when you are overseas for months at a time. It’s our honor and privilege to make this a holiday gift for those who are selflessly serving our country.”

Logan goes on to say that donation cans in stores and proceeds of the Cut-a-Thon event on Veterans’ Day weekend will go towards a goal of connecting more than 60,000 families this holiday season.

Sport Clips is known for offering televisions tuned to sports at every station and surrounding its clients with sports-themed décor that includes jerseys, pennants, lockers, and sports memorabilia available for purchase. Sport Clips serves its clients on a walk-in basis. One of its best-known offerings is the MVP Treatment which includes a precision haircut, massaging shampoo, steamed towel, and neck and shoulder massage.

Headquartered in Georgetown, Texas, Sport Clips was named in Entrepreneur magazine’s January 2007 issue as the 72nd largest franchise in America, up from its 81st position last year, and the 49th fastest-growing franchise, moving up one position from its ranking in 2006.
