November 1, 2007 (FPRC) -- (Memphis, TN) In response to an increased demand for extended living programs for women, the Open Door Retreat womens addiction recovery center has announced the launch of a four-week extended living program.

Statistical data around the process of drug and alcohol addiction recovery show a direct correlation between the length of stay in a sober living environment and the resident’s chances of continuing to live a life of sobriety. Longer addiction recovery programs dramatically reduce the likelihood of addiction relapse and produce more favorable results among alumni.

“Many women feel that they cannot spare the time to spend in an addiction recovery setting – but the amount of time and quality of life lost when an addict slips back into addiction is far greater than the time invested in a quality addiction recovery program,” says Open Door Retreat founder Ty Goodridge-Lund.

Open Door’s high impact week-long womens recovery retreats have been a popular choice for women whose family and job responsibilities do not afford them the opportunity for an extended recovery program. However, Goodridge-Lund says that many women need more.

“Once they get here and get into the program, many women realize that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to make serious changes in their lives. To meet the needs of these women, we have made the decision to extend the retreat to include 2, 3, and 4 week extended living programs,” says Goodridge-Lund.

The Open Door Retreat is headquartered in Memphis Tennessee, but the retreat itself takes place in the serene old-world environment of San Miguel de Allende Mexico. Goodridge-Lund chose the location specifically for its tranquil setting and ‘back to basics’ charm that offers an ideal backdrop for women to explore the causes of their addiction away from the bustle of everyday life.

Programs run from Saturday to Saturday each week. Registration for programs is available online through the Open Door website or by calling (888) 404-7625.

About the Open Door Retreat: The Open Door Retreat offers retreats for women in recovery that provide a holistic approach to recovery from all types of addictions. The program’s goal is to unlock each woman’s full potential so that she may develop a virtual roadmap to a better life.
