The single exam path is recommended for candidates who have at least 1 year experience in networking using Cisco routers and switches. Cisco certifications are generally valid for 3 years, and candidates are expected to renew certifications by taking renewal exam. CCNA is the foundation certification for taking CCNP and other professional level exams.
