November 23, 2007 (FPRC) -- This collection of children’s tales includes the adventures of animals such as Boswell the badger and Geoffrey the fox, Pinky the house cat, Tigger the precocious town cat, Hamish the Highland terrier, Barny the owl and many others. Each of these stories has colourful illustrations portraying the animal characters in the story. These are just the sorts of stories that you would hope to find at your local library and parents will love to read to their children.
About the Author: Jacqui H. Johnson lives in London, England. She attended a correspondence course in 1992, and wrote a monthly Astrology column for LAMP magazine which had a readership of around 3 million. Jacqui started writing these stories in 2004, and she has done all of the illustrations herself. Jacqui is presently compiling ideas and notes for her second book.

Excerpt from the book:

“It was eleven o’clock in the morning when Boswell badger started to rustle about. He scrambled out from beneath a big pile of leaves and sniffed the air. He said, “It’s going to rain today if I’m not mistaken.” Just then tiny rain drops pitter pattered down onto his shiny nose.

Boswell lives on the edge of Oak Wood. He has a big den. His home is very cosy. He keeps it tidy and he has lined the floor with fern leaves, which are lovely to sleep on and very warm. He has a pile of nuts hidden in the corner and, so the squirrels don’t try to rob him, he has hidden them under some oak leaves.

On Saturday, Boswell went over to see Geoffrey to see how he was getting on. Geoffrey said he was going down to the stream to catch a fish. He asked Boswell if he would like to help him. So they set off down the hill to the stream with some blackberries tied to a piece of string. Boswell said to Geoffrey, “I don’t think fish are too keen on blackberries.” “On the contrary,” said Geoffrey, “they love blackberries. My Grandpa caught a whooper when he used them as bait. Fish like blackberries even more than grasshoppers.” “Well, we’ll see,” said Boswell.
