One of the Biggest Spiritual Leaders Comes to Ethiopia
His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar the founder of Art of Living Foundation makes a visit to Ethiopia.

December 6, 2007 (FPRC) -- ADDIS ABABA - H. H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji will be visiting Ethiopia for the first time on December 6/7, 2007. His visit is at the invitation of a significant number of Ethiopian Parliamentarians (The Ethio-India Parliamentary Friendship Association) who have benefited from his Leadership Development programme for decision makers. One of the major events during his visit will be held at the Ethiopian Parliament. The focus of his visit will be to interact with Ethiopian decisions makers and senior officials on issues related to development and human values.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji is a well known international humanitarian and peacemaker who has forged an important place for himself in the world through his innumerable social service projects and peace building efforts all over the world. He has also become well known internationally as a deep and profound speaker and his practical wisdom has touched and transformed the lives of millions around the world. His organization works through a large number of volunteers who conduct courses for social and personal transformation around the world. The Art of Living organization is currently active in over 156 countries around the world.
The social service projects include projects related to conflict resolution and peace, trauma relief, prison rehabilitation. In addition there are projects aimed at women's empowerment, rural development, youth empowerment, education, biodynamic farming, tribal welfare and social awareness.
In Ethiopia the organization has worked with Parliamentarians to awaken a feeling of social responsibility and commitment through its courses. With the youth the programmes have focused on making them catalysts for change so that they are able to assist in bringing about meaningful social change in their communities. The youth have implemented programmes for creating cleanliness awareness, set up toilet blocks with biogas facilities and in future plan to do rainwater harvesting and other such projects. A significant number of students of the Addis Ababa University have also done the programme. The Art of Living also conducts courses for self-development and stress release for all individuals.
Sri Sri, as he is lovingly known, is coming to Addis as recognition of the work that his organization has done in Addis through the Youth, Parliamentarians and the scores of
ordinary people who have benefited from the Art of Living's programmes. During his visit he will meet with senior dignitaries of the Ethiopian Government, the Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and the Mayor of Addis Ababa. He will also call upon the President of Ethiopia and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
There will be a special talk at the Ethiopian Parliament for parliamentarians and there will be a special event at the Hilton Hotel at 7pm on the 6th of December. Although this event is by invitation, any one interested in attending can call the Indian Embassy to get a limited number of invitations. On the 7th there will be an event at the City Hall at 10:30 am where all are invited. In the evening at 5:30 pm there will be an event at the Ethiopian Conference Center and this I open to all.
