Broward County Parks and Recreation and Abundant Life Fitness Host Health Fest

February 26, 2008 (FPRC) -- (Broward County, Florida ) Broward County Parks and Recreation and Abundant Life Health and Fitness Center team up to present “A Taste of Good Health Fest” on March 14, 2008 at Roosevelt Gardens Park, located at 2841 N.W. 11th Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33311; a “closing the gap” health services initiative to empower at risk African Americans to adopt healthy lifestyles. The event will kick off at 7:00 p.m.
Guests will have the opportunity to have their blood pressure checked; Cholesterol tested, listen to talks on how to manage special health problems, as well as receive gift bags filled with goodies from local vendors and stuffed with valuable information to promote healthy eating habits.
Dr. Vera Stevens, Founder of Abundant Life, Health and Fitness Center, along with community organizations, local businesses and supporters have a fun, informative and heart healthy eating night planned for attendees.
The evening will also include local entertainment, along with guest speaker Evangelist Darlene Success, Radio Personality on WAVS, 1170 A.M. and host of Testimony Time, to share on The Total Man.
According to Dr. Stevens, “Our goal is not just to inform but to demonstrate that healthy cooking can taste good. That is why we have asked local chefs to participate with us.”

Abundant Life, Health and Fitness Center is a tax exempt 501 ( c) (3) organization, which reaches out to at risk communities through hosting health fairs, exercise programs, consultations, stress programs, street outreach programs, workshops, screening and testing; plus, a feeding program to low income families.
Dr. Vera M. Stevens is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Certified Personal Weight Trainer, Certified Aerobics Instructor and Nutritionist.
