March 24, 2008 (FPRC) -- One of the most flexible holiday, absence and sickness management packages available to HR departments has just received a major revision.

e-days, the online HR resource, has released version 3.0 of its highly successful absence management solution for medium to large enterprises.

e-days 3.0 features a brand new look but the new functionality introduced as part of this revision are more than just cosmetic.

New functionality within e-days 3.0 allows users to define their own absence or leaves categories rather than pick from a predetermined list; differentiate between holidays and planned absences as well as sickness and other unplanned absences; and a new calendar features which makes it easier for users to see reasons for absence, to restrict certain information from users. A redeveloped time of in lieu system has been developed that reflects the working time directive.

“This is the most sophisticated e-days ever,” says Tricia Durrant of e-days. “It’s still a very easy to use and logical system but it is now incredibly flexible allowing people to customise it to suit their precise needs. We’ve spent a great deal of time researching people’s requirements and incorporated as many of these requirements into this new system.”

One of the areas in which e-days has undergone a major transformation is in recording reasons for absence. The system allows people to pick from a comprehensive list of reasons, including maternity or paternity leave, jury service, training and compassionate leave amongst other reasons but also to customise the system to their precise needs by including their own reasons.
The calendar in e-days 3.0 has also been improved. It is now possible to adjust the visibility of absence reasons on shared calendars. If an employee is off for private reasons, medical tests for example, it is now possible to prevent everyone apart from the HR manager seeing this information safeguarding people’s privacy.

The colour coding of holidays, sickness, unplanned or unauthorised leave has been improved, allowing users to see the reason for any leave quickly and easily.

The authorisation process, by which a request for holiday or leave is made, has also been enhanced. It is still fully automated with holiday or leave requests made via an online portal which generates an email to the person’s line manager, who can authorise or decline the request with the click of a mouse.

A new over-time module has been included along with time off in lieu capabilities, which now match the latest Working Time directives, which dictates that time off in lieu has to be recorded separately to annual leave, holidays, sickness and other absences, such as jury service.

“No two organisations are the same, so why should they have to use an off the shelf system that doesn’t take into account their particular needs and holiday or absence regulations,” continues Tricia. “We believe e-days 3.0 is the most flexible online holiday and absence management system available today.”
