Charles Celano M.D. Takes Lead In No New Tax Pledge

April 2, 2008 (FPRC) -- Vero Beach, FL – Charles Celano, M.D., Republican candidate for State House District 80 has taken the lead in the race in taking the Americans for Tax Reform no new tax pledge. Celano vows that if elected to the Florida State House he will vote and lead the fight against any proposals that would increase taxes on Floridians. Celano, in taking the pledge, was reinforcing his conservative beliefs of less taxes and less government which prompted him to enter this race.

“As a conservative Republican and business owner I know firsthand that increasing taxes solves nothing in the operation of Florida’s government and am proud to take this pledge of no new taxes,” said Celano. “Rather it imposes an undue hardship upon millions of Floridians who are facing the burden of high insurance rates and property taxes during a period of economic downturn. In the State House I will vote against any tax increase proposal and lead the fight to cut government spending and trim government excess.”

In making his pledge, and being the first candidate to do so, Celano continues to emphasize the Treasure Coast values that he seeks to represent in the Florida State House of Representatives. Witnessing firsthand the devastating effects that tax increases have had on Florida’s seniors, working families, and businesses, Celano took the no new tax pledge as a demonstration of the leadership and vision he will bring to District 80 in finding real solutions to the problems facing Floridians.

A graduate of State University of New York at Stony Brook, Dr. Celano earned his medical degree at the University of Noreste. He completed his cardiology training at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. Like many, he was attracted to the natural beauties of the Treasure Coast. He has served as Chief of Staff at Indian River Memorial Hospital, Chairman of the Cardiology Department at Indian River Memorial Hospital and is currently Medical Director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at IRMC-Duke Heart Center. He also serves as a liaison to the Duke University Medical System and the Indian River Memorial Hospital open heart program. He is a proud member of the Florida Medical Association, Indian River County Medical Society, American College of Healthcare Executives, and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Earning an MBA from Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Celano has created several businesses on the Treasure Coast.
