National Child Alert System Plea To Parents: Be Prepared to Take Action In Child Abduction Recovery

In response to the kidnapping and murder of Hser Nay Moo in Utah, National Child Alert System urges parents to take preventative action by organizing all critical information needed by law enforcement to initiate a rapid search and issue an Amber Alert.

April 4, 2008 (FPRC) --
The gruesome discovery of 7-year-old Hser Nay Moo found dead in a neighbor’s apartment has again proven that every parent’s nightmare is in fact a reality. After an exhaustive search led by South Salt Lake Police Chief Chris Snyder and more than 700 volunteers, Hser’s body was found in the basement of a neighboring home one day after she went missing.

“This sort of horror is not something that only happens to other people. These types of tragedies are occurring in our country on a daily basis. We are desperately urging parents to take preventative action by storing all of the necessary information needed to issue an Amber Alert in a format that can be easily accessible to law enforcement and the media,” says Tom Schlegel, father of six children and the CEO of Child Alert System.

Schlegel’s company, Saferkidz, provides a system for online and local storage and rapid access to the information officials need to begin an effective search. The National Child Alert System stores photos, identifying information, biographical information, and creates aerial maps of a child’s frequently visited locations. Parents can quickly print and email missing child posters and issue missing child alerts to hundreds of people on their contact list the moment they suspect their child is missing. The first step, urges Schlegel, is to call 911, then provide responding officials with the password to access Child Alert System.

“In these types of situations, time is of the essence. 74% of all children who are abducted and murdered are dead within 3 hours – which is about the same amount of time it takes families to gather the necessary information for law enforcement,” explains Schlegel.

“We do not know if our National Child Alert System could have prevented this tragic outcome. We will never know because the family did not have the system,” Schlegel says.

About Child Alert System: Child Alert System is the only fully parent controlled tool available today designed to help parents find their child and reduce the amount of time that a child is away from home. Child Alert System operates on the value of contributing to others, and looks forward to continuing to support some of America's most effective child safety organizations.
