Novato, CA April 8, 2008 (FPRC) -- Kedzie Press and Eco-Libris announce the launch of the Kedzie Million Tree-A-Thon a new green initiative that aims to plant a million trees for a million books to be sold by Kedzie Press by the end of 2009.

Starting April 2008, all titles published by Kedzie Press will appear with the Eco-Libris logo, signifying that one tree has been planted with the purchase of that book. Kedzie Press titles published prior to April 2008 will be stickered upon sale via the Kedzie Press website.

Kedzie Press is already well renowned for the highest standards of environmental friendliness and social responsibility. All its titles are printed on 100% recycled, 100% post-consumer waste paper (FSC certified), and processed chlorine free. This means that by pledging to plant one tree for every book sold, Kedzie Press is maximizing the positive impact it already has on the environment.

Kedzie Press Marketing Manager Josh P. McClary tells about how the project got its start: “When we met with Raz at Eco-Libris, we were very much interested in his company’s ability to help Kedzie Press link our business activities to the specific environmentally beneficial action of planting a tree. We are determined to grow as a business through environmentally restorative activities. We look forward to a time when businesses are not only judged by their ability to earn a profit, but also by the impact on the environment. Eco-Libris is clearly helping us accomplish this goal. We strongly believe that the Eco-Libris seal adds considerable value to our books. It is also very important that they are a for-profit business, further showing that profits and the environment are not at odds—only greed and the environment conflict each other.”

The first title in Million Tree-A-Thon has already been released, titled 'The Green Parent: A Kid-Friendly Guide to Earth-Friendly Living' by Jenn Savedge, and is available now for sale.

‘The Green Parent’ is the perfect book to start this new initiative. The book is for parents who would like to teach their children about living green. From how to save energy, to how to reuse and recycle everything, including advice for getting children involved in conservation, as well as products and services that can help parents raise more environmentally conscious children.

Author, Jenn Savedge, says of the partnership with Eco-Libris: "I always tell parents they need to 'walk the walk' if they want to teach their kids about taking care of the planet. And I'm so proud that The Green Parent is published by Kedzie Press, a publisher that really 'walks the walk' when it comes to going green. The Million Tree-A-Thon they've launched with Eco-libris gives parents the opportunity to learn about green parenting while actively protecting the planet for their children."

Raz Godelnik, Eco-Libris co-founder and CEO, says: “Kedzie Press is looking to make a difference in the way they operate and inspire others to do the same. We are very excited and proud to be part of these efforts and look forward to meeting the goal: planting one million trees for one million Kedzie Press books. I'm positive that with the support of all the eco-conscious readers out there we can do it!”
