Have You Ever Lost Something Important and Wondered What Could Be Done to Retrieve It

Lost keys, PDA devices, MP3 Players, cell phones, eye glass cases are an every day event. It is highly probable that we will lose an item of importance to us, perhaps more than once in our lifetime. How will it impact you if you lost your cell phone with all of your contacts? How long did it take you to put 5,000 songs on your MP3 player? How much money will it cost to replace that set of car keys? Can anything be done to increase the potential of retrieving these items?

April 17, 2008 (FPRC)--Lost Item Found is a service dedicated to getting lost items back to their rightful owners. No guarantees are made, but some measure of hope is provided. Lost keys, cell phones, and PDA devices, are an every day event, and Lost Item Found provides a service to retrieve those items for their owners. This service is available throughout the United States.
When a customer signs up, there is a separate, renewable service fee that provides either tags for keys or labels for other items.
Unique identifier key tags will direct a finder to put the keys in the US mail, and they will be addressed to a post office box to protect individual privacy. Once received by Lost Item Found, they are packaged and mailed to the owner.
Unique identifier labels are provided for items other than keys. The finder is directed to contact Lost Item Found through a toll free number. The owner is contacted to establish the preferred method of delivery, and the owner pays for that delivery. The finder is offered both the key tag and label service for free for 6 months.
Lost items are an every day occurrence, and many of these items are found. However, often these items are not recovered by their owners, because the owner can’t be traced. “In 2004, 12,386 items made their way into the lost-property office at New York City Transit, a modest white and gray room in Penn Station; in 2005, the office collected 8,309 items.”(NY Times, Feb 26, 2006). The service provided by Lost Item Found is intended to help owners recover their lost items, and maintain the privacy of everyone involved.
