Synopsis:
When Rebecca Shuler experiences the worst tragedy in her young life, the death of her twin sister Kailey, she is devastated. To make matters worse, her parents take their anger out on one another. Convinced her parents are planning to get divorced, Rebecca attempts to forget her problems by hiking through the desert behind her aunt's house. There she befriends a mysterious young woman, Joann, and discovers a strange tunnel. Joann agrees to allow Rebecca to accompany her though the tunnel under the condition she stays on the main pathway. Unfortunately, Rebecca quickly disregards her promise and ventures off on her own. This act of disobedience plunges Rebecca and Joann into an alternate dimension with many hidden dangers. In author M.D. Sanford's "Nevaeh"—named for the inscription on the locket Joann gives Rebecca at the end of their journey—readers will watch as one teen learns of God's plan for her life and struggles for survival.
In an interview with NewBookReviews.org, Sanford said, "The central truth of the book is that one must be saved in order to spend eternity with God. Other takeaways include: everyone's life has a purpose, and there are many distractions in life which can cause individuals to stray away from God's purpose for their lives."
