May 22, 2008 (FPRC) -- Chrysallis ¡V Close to Disability organizes the 2nd meeting of the European Dimension in Parents Education (EDIPE) Project which will be held in Athens 25-27 May 2008. During the meeting a seminar will take place in Athinais Hotel (9:30 am) on 26 of May 2008 with the scope of the analysis and progress of the project.

Chrysallis ¡V Close to Disability participates in the European Dimension in Parents Education project that aims to establish an international partnership of different organizations from Estonia, Greece and Latvia, all providing parent education in their countries, for enhancement of opportunities and motivation of parents of disadvantaged groups for lifelong learning.

The main activities of the project are to identify the best practices of involvement of adult learners - parents of minority families, parents of families of children with disabilities, and other disadvantaged groups - in parent education, to analyse the factors, which promote the most efficient impact on involvement of parents of disadvantaged groups in adult education and its effectiveness, and to enhance the knowledge and skills of the partners necessary for successful parent education.
This project is funded by the Life Long Learning, Grundtvig (Learning Partnership) programme.

Chrysallis is a non-profit voluntary organisation that strives to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. We, as Chrysallis, work against the discrimination and exclusion that people with disabilities face in all aspects of society aiming in their socio-economical and educational integration and the elimination of the stereotypes and disabled labels. Chrysallis emphasizes in the socialization of people with disabilities by offering them opportunities for life long learning, support and knowledge in new technologies. The knowledge and experience of Chrysallis members on disability issues provides guidelines and suggestions for the best interest of people with disabilities focusing on new research and educational methods, accessibility issues, equality, independence as well as good practices.

Our activities are to
„Ï create and provide fully accessible e-Learning courses that will enhance the socio-economical and educational level of people with disabilities.
„Ï contribute in the development of new accessible technologies.
„Ï contribute in the development of safe and accessible web content.
„Ï survey the usability and accessibility of technological products and services.
„Ï provide psychological support to people with disabilities and to their families.
„Ï provide consultancy in respect to disability issues.

We believe in a translational environment where good practices would be established and hence enrich the knowledge and abilities of people with and without disabilities.
