Maven-based JAR Search Engine Released on findJAR.com

findJAR.com is a free search engine, which makes it possible to find JAR files by Java class names. It is based on the contents of the extensive ibiblio maven repository.

May 23, 2008 (FPRC) -- findJAR.com is a search engine for Java developers, who are looking for JAR files containing required Java classes. It can be used to easily resolve NoClassDefFoundError and ClassNotFoundException problems. The search engine can be used free of charge on www.findJAR.com from now on.

The results provided by findJAR.com are primarily based on the contents of the large ibiblio maven repository. Currently, more than 16GB of JAR files are indexed. Almost 2 million class files contained in more than 16.000 archives can be searched right now. The underlying database shall be extended continuously in order to keep up with new versions and additionally relevant packages.

“As regards the inclusion of additional JAR files, we hope to receive interesting proposals from our user community”, states Jürgen Kuster, the founder of www.findJAR.com. In the near future also automatic submissions of Java archives and Java class files may be possible through a designated input form.

The service is intended for Java developers who are facing NoClassDefFoundError or ClassNotFoundException problems. Required JAR files can be downloaded directly from the ibiblio repository.
