Nation's Leading Tax Negotiation and Mediation Firm Teams Up with KATU News to Help an Innocent Man with a Serious Case of Stolen Identity and Trouble with the IRS

Identity theft victim given "runaround" by authorities and Tax Resolution Services launches special investigation to help the innocent man clear his name with the IRS

June 5, 2008 (FPRC) -- Tax Resolution Services (TRS), a company that specializes in providing affordable solutions to people with IRS tax problems, has teamed up with KATU On Your Side Investigator Dan Tilkin to help a victim of identity theft clear his name with the IRS.

This case of identity theft spans the country and involves two men with almost identical names. Eladio Lopez is an American citizen who works as a modestly paid truck driver in New York. Heladio Lopez is a suspected illegal immigrant and former construction worker in Salem, Oregon, who according to documents, has been ripping off the New Yorker and his social security number.

Now the IRS wants back taxes for both men’s incomes—which have been going on the same IRS account for several years. As a result, the New Yorker found himself with an IRS bill mounting to nearly $13,000—even though he hadn’t done anything wrong.

Eladio Lopez struggled to get tax help and eventually turned to Michael Rozburch and the certified experts at Tax Resolution Services, who have represented thousands of taxpayers who have owed the IRS but simply could not afford to pay.

In a surprising turn, the tax experts at TRS kept getting "the runaround" from a number of authorities, including Salem and New York police officials and the Internal Revenue Service, who said that a stolen social security number is an issue for the Social Security Administration.

"It’s [frustrating] that the companies that are legitimate American companies were not cooperating with us to investigate this matter, and to put a stop to it," said Svetlana Brontveyn, an attorney with Tax Resolution Services.

After making thousands of dollars under someone else’s name, Heladio Lopez has since moved out of his Salem residence. As for Eladio Lopez, his tax attorneys say it will take several more months to convince the IRS he doesn’t owe the money.

Tax Resolution Services is dedicated to providing affordable solutions to businesses and individuals alike who find themselves in trouble with the IRS. The tax experts at TRS have a success rate of 90% - second to none in the industry and an OIC Settlement Rate of $0.13 on the dollar.
