July 7, 2008 (FPRC) - New York, NY-- youngStartup Ventures today announced the eighth Annual New York Venture Summit held on Tuesday, June 24th and Wednesday June 25th successfully brought together over 400 venture capitalists (VC), Corporate investors, Angel investors and CEOs of emerging companies. The event, which took place at The New Yorker Hotel in New York City, provided a forum for startups ranging from software and IT to cutting edge life sciences, to meet with VCs, investment bankers, successful entrepreneurs, and angel investors. The conference featured presentations from 48 companies and over 25 insightful VCs, creating the ideal environment for promising startups to showcase their business models and gain valuable guidance from potential investors and partners.
“New York continues to offer a thriving environment for innovative startups and the venture capital community,” youngStartup Ventures Founder and CEO Joe Benjamin said. “The participants of this year’s summit offered a glimpse of cutting-edge technologies and life sciences providing a platform for many leading venture capitalists to gain access to quality deal-flow and share their perspective on the funding environment.”
The success of the event was due in part to sponsors, VC speakers, including conference Chairman, Stephen Davis of Heller Ehrman’s Venture Law Group, and Venture Summit Advisory Board Co-Chairs: Will Porteous of RRE Ventures and Daniel Schultz of DFJ Gotham Ventures. The support from the Advisory board was also critical in making this summit the largest yet. The board included Steve Brotman of Greenhill SAVP; Andrew Clapp of Brook Venture Partners, Jay Goldberg of Hudson Ventures, Brian Model of Stonehenge Growth Capital, Charles Scott of Intel Capital and Jeanne Sullivan of StarVest Partners.
As the summit commenced, youngStartup Ventures presented awards for the following categories: Best Exhibitor, Best Presenter – Life Sciences Track, and Best Presenter – Technology Track. The Best Exhibitor was awarded to Scientific Products & Systems, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of precision liquid dispensing systems for filling bottles, vials, tubes, syringes, etc.; the Best Presenter – Life Sciences Track award was given to RegeneMed, Inc., a tissue engineering company; and the Best Presenter – Technology Track award was given to ClearSaleing, Inc., an advertising technology company.
