Seymour, CT -- (July 08, 2008) - WebbyShop, MagazineSubscription.ws and WikiMusicGuide bonded together to help Jerthrude Maree, a six year old girl with ASD (Atrial Septal Defect).

Helen Keller, a blind and deaf American author once said "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." These are the words that inspired the contributors and staff of WikiMusicGuide, MagazineSubscription.ws and WebbyShop.com when they launched a fund-raising campaign, the Maree Fund, last June 20, 2008. The fund-raising campaign is for the benefit of a six year old girl who desperately needs to undergo an open-heart surgery due to Atrial Septal Defect.

The "Hole"

Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), often referred to as a "hole", is a congenital heart disease where the wall that separates the left and right sides of the heart had an incomplete closure. The "hole" in the heart continues to grow and the only way to close it is through surgery. The longer the "hole" remains open, the higher the risk of getting further complications and may lead to irreversible damages that even surgery can't correct.

The Little Angel

Jerthrude Maree was diagnosed with ASD when she was only two years old. Though they detected the defect at an earlier stage (during that time the size of the hole is only 1.7cm and now it rapidly grew to 2.8cm), raising the funds that she needs became a difficult task since her parents doesn't have a stable job that time. Recent test results done to Maree shows a bigger hole and pulmonary hypertension is starting to build up, one of ASD's complication. Because of this and to avoid further complications, her need of surgery has become vital. According to her pediatric cardiologist, "there is no specific time frame or any way to measure how rapid the pressure on her lungs will grow but if the surgery could be done this year, then we can still make it."

Saving a Life

The WikiMusicGuide, Magazinesubscription.ws and WebbyShop.com bonded together to achieve one common goal - to reach $5,000 in 30 days. The people in this fund-raising campaign are striving and doing their best to reach their goal to help this little girl with her surgery. There are many options to help support their endeavor by donating, buying or subscribing and all proceeds will go to the Maree Fund to help facilitate the need for her surgery. Those who are willing to help out were given a chance to win freebies and discount from their purchases. Now, everyone can make a difference, everyone can be a part of saving this little girl's life.
