July 9, 2008 (FPRC) -- Internationally Acclaimed Interior Designer, David-Michael Madigan - of David-Michael Design Inc. located in Santa Ana, CA wins 2008 Gold Nugget Award for his brilliant design of The Bluffs Plan 5 along the Santa Barbara Coast Home.
The Bluffs is a beautiful community nestled amongst the Monarch butterfly reserve in Goleta, Ca. These multi-million dollar single family homes are the creation of builder, Comstock Homes of Manhattan Beach and architect, William Hezmalhalch.
The residence which won the coveted “Gold Nugget Award – Best Single Family Detached Home – 4,001 – 4,500 sq.ft” was Plan 5 which David-Michael designed with a warm, Mediterranean interior to quote the Gold Nugget judges statement – “This 4,141 sq. ft. home creates warmth and an inviting atmosphere.” David-Michael is a master at blending classic styles with an edgy, contemporary element. He is known for meticulously hand selecting details like antique hammered bronze hardware & sinks, rare Catalina tiles, and various antique furnishings for each individual residence. He values his projects and treats each with individualized attention to make every home a “mark of distinction.”
As you enter living room you are met with dramatic velvet curtains adorned with contrasting tassel trim which David-Michael presented in an unexpected color pallet of rust, pumpkin and deep blues. Across from the living room, a stately library demands your attention with a handsome antique writing desk and bureau. The first level flooring is created with the casual elegance of “Casa Monterey” pavers with accent tiles throughout. Walking through the lower hall you will find a powder bath as you head into the kitchen and formal dining room. In the kitchen David-Michael mixes colors in the cabinetry and center island to create an inviting palette that speaks of traditional Tuscan homes. The dining room is elegant with its Italian adornment.
The iron & wood plank staircase keeps with the Mediterranean interior and leads you to a secondary bedroom and bath. The bathroom is filled with amber glass tiles in the shower area and sink counter backsplash. The neighboring bedroom also contains a bath with an unexpected splash of cobalt blue glass tiles.
The master bedroom is striking. It calls you in with a sensuality of burnt sienna, rich cobalt blues and the romance of melting ambers and honey. The ceiling calls your attention as it is painted in a ginger hue that adds to the intrigue. The master bath with dual showers is detailed with accents of rust/ red marble trim and travertine that gives the travertine a classic yet fresh look from the norm and evokes David-Michael’s simple classic approach to finishes.
The home showcases David-Michael’s signature flooring line “Casa Monterey”, a unique concrete blend paver in designer hues produced by Smith-Laredo of San Diego.
