July 29, 2008 (FPRC) -- (Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England) The School of Entrepreneurship and Business at the University of Essex Southend is the first university to partner with the Emotional Endurance Institute, a US-based organization, to integrate emotional endurance training into the university's undergraduate, post-graduate and personal development programmes. Emotional Endurance is mind, body and spirit training for students, professionals and entrepreneurs - and helps people develop inner strength so that they can integrate skills and knowledge into the business creation process and enhance the success rate of business enterprises. The two organizations are also launching a research project to study the impact of emotions on success and failure.

We believe emotions play a significant role in sustainable success and are delighted to be working with a highly respected partner to integrate emotional endurance training into our curriculum and set a standard for other universities to follow, 'says Professor Mitra, Head of the School of Entrepreneurship and Business at the University of Essex Southend. Plans are already in the works to roll out training in India and China respectfully.

The Emotional Endurance Institute provides training around the globe and through the internet for entrepreneurs, students and professionals. The company was launched in 1999 following, the executive director and founder, Ms. Mulvehill's tumultuous transition into entrepreneurship and discovery that, like herself, most entrepreneurs struggled more so with the emotional challenges than with the business challenges of starting and growing a business.

Studies consistently show that the development of an entrepreneurial mindset is necessary for students, entrepreneurs and teachers. A 2002 study published in the Journal of Small Business Management revealed that there was little difference between the failure rates of SME's in developed vs. undeveloped countries. 'With all the skill training in developed nations, and the failure rate being the same with or without skill training, it is evident that the opportunities for enhancement are within the person and that's what we specialize in,' says Ms. Mulvehill.

Developing an entrepreneurial mindset is a problem for teachers too and is something that the two organizations plan to tackle. A study published in the Financial Times on 15 May 2008 in an article titled, 'Teachers fail to nurture young entrepreneurs' showed that teachers and lecturers are failing to nurture the entrepreneurial talent in their classrooms.

The Emotional Endurance Institute and the School of Entrepreneurship and Business at the University of Essex are taking on the challenge of teaching an entrepreneurial mindset to students, teachers, lecturers and professionals worldwide.
